cut linden blossoms
Linden blossoms (also known by the German name Sommerlinde or the scientific name Tilia platyphyllos) are delicate fragrant flowers that have a wide range of uses. The linden blossom, also known as the flowers of the linden tree, is not only valued for its culinary uniqueness, but also finds its place in cultural areas.
Linden blossoms come from linden trees. Linden trees are native to Europe and parts of northern Asia. There, linden trees often grow in parks or avenues. Most linden blossoms are imported from the Balkan states, Turkey or China.
The characteristic bell-shaped structure of the small linden blossoms is what makes the inflorescences so special. Linden blossoms are light, cream-colored flowers that give off a pleasantly sweet smell.
Linden blossoms have a very long history of use in various cultures. The beautiful appearance and pleasant scent of the linden blossom make it a particularly popular ingredient in culinary creations and unavoidable for some traditional customs.
In the culinary arts, linden blossoms are often used to make teas, syrups or infusions. The linden blossom gives off its unmistakable sweet and floral taste. In addition, the special taste of the linden blossom gives many drinks such as linden blossom teas or lemonades a classic, refreshing note. In the kitchen, linden blossoms are particularly often used as a decoration for salads, desserts or baked goods. The linden blossoms not only give the dishes a wonderful appearance, but also an unmistakable floral aroma.
In many cultures, linden blossoms are used for weddings, festivals or religious ceremonies. Linden blossoms are said to symbolize purity, love and happiness and are therefore often used as decoration in churches, banquet halls or houses.

To make linden blossom tea, pour boiling water over 2 teaspoons of cut and dried linden blossoms in a cup of water (approx. 180 ml). The linden blossom tea should then be left to steep, covered, for around 10 minutes and can then be sweetened as desired and enjoyed warm.
