Spearmint (also known as corkscrew mint or nana mint) is a plant that is known for its various culinary uses. Spearmint is characterized by its curly, wavy leaves, hence its name. Spearmint is a perennial plant with a height of around 30 to 60 cm. The spearmint leaves are light green to dark green in color.
The intense, refreshing mint aroma of spearmint makes it a popular ingredient in the kitchen. Spearmint belongs to the genus Mentha and is a variant of the well-known peppermint. Spearmint is widespread in various regions of the world and is highly valued for its aroma and decorative appearance.
In the kitchen, spearmint is used in many drinks and dishes because of its taste. The spearmint leaves can be used to make lemonades, iced teas, cocktails or simply added to water. Dried spearmint is especially used for salads, sauces, dressings, desserts or dips.
Spearmint or Nana Mint is also ideal for preparing refreshing spearmint tea. Spearmint tea can be enjoyed either hot or cold, making it ideal as a refreshing drink at any time of day or year. Use of spearmint:

For each cup of spearmint tea, you need about 1-2 teaspoons of dried spearmint. The spearmint can either be put loose in the cup or put in a tea strainer. This makes it easier to remove the spearmint leaves. Then pour about 150-180 ml of boiling water over the spearmint. The tea should be left to steep for about 5-10 minutes and then strained. Optionally, the tea can be sweetened with honey, sugar or other sweeteners as desired. If you want to enjoy the spearmint tea cold, it can be poured over ice cubes after preparation.
