St. John's wort cut
St. John's wort (also known as wild hop or the scientific name Hypericum perforatum) is a plant with striking yellow flowers that belongs to the family of the Heath plants. St. John's wort prefers dry and sunny locations in Europe and western Asia. St. John's wort is cultivated in Germany and Chile, among other places.
St. John's wort is not only valued as a herbal tea, but is also a particularly interesting ingredient in many cuisines. St. John's wort is used as an ingredient in certain baked goods, such as bread, or as an additive in yoghurt. St. John's wort is particularly popular for addition to vinegar or oil, because when St. John's wort is soaked in it, it gives the oil or vinegar a special flavor.
Use of St. John's Wort:
The dried St. John's wort is prepared for a St. John's wort tea as follows:
Brew about 2 teaspoons of St. John's wort with about 180 ml of water for 15 minutes. The tea infusion is then stirred and strained. The St. John's wort tea can be sweetened as desired.
