lady's mantle herb cut
Lady's mantle (also known as common lady's mantle, Mary's mantle or by its scientific name, Alchemilla vulgaris) is a perennial plant from the rose family. It is widespread in Europe, North America and parts of Asia. Lady's mantle prefers to grow in meadows, forests or on the edges of forests. The cultivation of lady's mantle extends from Germany to many southern and eastern European countries, such as Spain, Turkey and Italy. Lady's mantle is one of the ancient cultivated plants, which is said to have originally come from the Orient.
The characteristic feature of the lady's mantle is its herbaceous appearance. The lobed leaves are reminiscent of a lady's mantle, which is where the name lady's mantle came from. The leaves of the lady's mantle have a soft, velvety texture. The flowers of the lady's mantle are small, yellow-green in color and arranged in dense inflorescences. The lady's mantle usually blooms from May to July.
Lady's mantle is not only valued for its ingredients, such as the tannins or flavonoids it contains, but also because all parts of the plant are edible. These include the flowers, leaves and stems of the lady's mantle.
Use of lady's mantle:
To prepare a lady's mantle herb tea, pour about 150ml of boiling water over 2 teaspoons of lady's mantle herb. After about 10 to 15 minutes, the tea infusion should be passed through a tea strainer.
