speedwell cut
Speedwell is a perennial plant from the plantain family. Speedwell is widespread in Europe, North America and parts of Asia and prefers to grow in sunny and dry locations, such as sunny meadows or on the edge of forests. Speedwell is particularly characterized by its small, blue-violet flowers. These flowers are arranged in dense spikes on the speedwell. The flowering period is usually from May to September. The leaves of speedwell are elongated and have a hairy surface. Speedwell can reach a height of around 15 to 40 centimeters.
The areas of application of speedwell are particularly varied. Speedwell is also particularly used in the culinary arts. The dried leaves are often used as a seasoning for soups, salads or other dishes. In terms of taste, speedwell gives the dishes a slightly bitter, but nevertheless particularly aromatic note.
Use of cut speedwell herb:
The well-dried and cut speedwell herb is also used as a tea. About a teaspoon of speedwell herb is poured over about 150 to 200 ml of boiling water. The speedwell tea is left to steep, covered, for about 10 minutes. The speedwell herb should then be skimmed off with a tea strainer and can be enjoyed straight away, sweetened or pure, depending on taste.
