The rockrose (also known as Cistus) is a fascinating plant that has particularly aromatic leaves and flowers and belongs to the rockrose family. The rockrose is mainly found in the Mediterranean region and the Canary Islands. The rockrose grows in sunny, warm and dry conditions.
The aroma of the rockrose is described as having a citrus-like taste. In addition, a decoction can be made from the dried rockroses, which can be applied externally using a compress.

Use of rockrose-cistus:

Rockrose herb is currently classified as a novel food in the EU, which is why it may not be sold as tea or food in Germany.

To make compresses with rockrose, pour about a teaspoon of dried rockrose into 200 ml of boiling water several times a day and leave to steep for 30 minutes. Then strain and soak a cotton cloth or gauze bandage in the brew. The compress should then only be used externally and applied to the affected area for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Storage:

Rockrose-Cistus should be stored dry and ideally airtight in order to retain its intense aroma for a particularly long time.
